Symbol of a long
vitivicultural tradition that dates back to the XIXth century,
this winery was born from the pasion and vision of Gilberto
Lavaque, who in 1930, continued the path initiated
by his grandfather Don Jose Lavaque in Cafayate
Valley, Salta in 1870,and took his know-how and family winemaking
tradition to the premier grape growing region of San Rafael,
in the province of Mendoza.
With a cool and dry climate this southern Mendoza´s
region is suitable for the development of fine grapes of supreme
quality. In 1889, Félix Lavaque -Gilberto´s
father - started the winemaking tradition by producing the
first fine wine and becoming one of the most important wine
suppliers of Argentina.
Today
is Rodolfo Félix Lavaque, together
with his son Francisco-UC Davis Degree
of Bachelor of Science with a major in Viticulture and Enology-
fifth generation of Lavaque familiy, who with renewed strength
continues the family legacy through a clear policy of integration,
modernization and expansion.
